National Heart Month
National Heart Month
A month to raise awareness, empower action, and strengthen hearts – together.

February is National Heart Month in the United States – a time when communities, health professionals, and advocates focus on building heart awareness and saving lives.
As a community of people living with (or caring for someone with) genetic heart rhythm conditions, we believe that every heartbeat should be detected, protected and heard – and that every person has the power to help save lives.
Did you know?
- More than 3 million people live with Long QT Syndrome worldwide.
- 2 million are likely undiagnosed and at increased risk of dangerous rhythms or sudden cardiac arrest.
- With increased awareness, our mission is to save lives before a first symptom strikes.
SADS Foundation & Heart Month: How We Show Up
Our ongoing commitment
We provide resources all year, not just in February: support groups, awareness, education, and programs to help families who live with genetic heart rhythm conditions to thrive beyond their diagnosis.
How you can get involved
- Commit to learning CPR and knowing where the nearest AED is located.
- Join the #SelfieswithAEDs campaign on social media to raise awareness.
- If you’re affected, join our SADS Foundation Community Registry in partnership with Citizen Health to help advance research and detection.
- Download our free digital Red Kit for awareness materials you can share with your community.
The first Friday of National Heart Month is National Wear Red Day, and each year, we celebrate with a video of our community’s pets wearing red.
To include your pet’s photo in our video, you can do any of the following:
- Text photos or videos of your pet wearing red to 801-948-0654.
- DM us your photos and videos on Instagram or Facebook.
- Email your photos or videos to [email protected].
