2025 Allied Professional and Genetic Counselor Research Award
We are excited to announce the first SADS Allied Professional and Genetic Counselor (AP/GC) Research Award! This award encourages genetic counselors and allied health professionals to conduct outstanding research in cardiac channelopathies and cardiomyopathies.
The work should be scientific, innovative, informative, and practical. The topic of the research must be related to inherited channelopathies, inherited cardiomyopathies, or sudden death. It should impact patient care, advocacy, education, research, community awareness, or increase awareness of a new aspect of the disease.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: February 28, 2025
ELIGIBILITY
The SADS competition is open to any allied health professional or genetic counselor working in clinical or basic research studying sudden cardiac death predisposing genetic heart diseases (channelopathies & cardiomyopathies).
The applicant must be the first author on the abstract submitted. Abstracts are not eligible for consideration if published before Heart Rhythm 2025.
PROCESS
A panel of reviewers, including allied health professionals and genetic counselors, will adjudicate the abstracts.
Finalists will be selected based on the qualifications of the applicant and the originality, importance, and scientific excellence of a project that contributes to our sudden cardiac death predisposing genetic heart conditions.
To be considered for the SADS Foundation competition, the allied health professional or genetic counselor will need to submit an abstract to The SADS Foundation by February 28, 2025.
NOTIFICATION
SADS AP/GC Award finalists will be notified by email in early April 2025
Award
The SADS AP/GC winner will be announced and presented during the Heart Rhythm 2025 in San Diego, April 24-27, 2025.
